Our very first event began in a pretend place called Summerville in the Chronicles of Narnia. Summerville is a small parcel of land governed by Sir Vallanor knight of High King Peter.
Mr. Beaver, Sir Vallanor's most trusted friend, was supposed to greet the children on the path leading towards the Inn and engage them in friendly conversation. Upon which he was going to share a small chest of silver coins so they could all buy refreshments at the Inn. Sir Vallanor was going to then gallop down on his horse and meet them along the road where wolves were going to attack!
Well, what actually happened was as soon as the children came into game they immediately grabbed the chest of silver, killed Mr. Beaver with their swords, and went running and screaming towards the Inn where they tried to also kill Sir Vallanor, who was still trying to get into his costume.
Sir Vallanor after a few moments of trying to fend off the feral children called for aid from his NPC guards to help defend him and bring calm to the rampaging children. After a few minutes Jamie, who was playing Mr. Beaver came shambling up the path and Sir Vallanor asked "what happened?" and the only replay was "they killed me, stole the chest and ran off".
Well, this was a disaster to our carefully planned plot line. But after a few minutes of trying to reason with the children swarm they finally calmed down and agreed to apologize to Mr. Beaver for killing him and stealing his chest of silver.
All was forgiven and the event somewhat continued as planned. The kids spent their ill gotten silver coins at the Inn and purchased some juice boxes and snacks. Afterwards Sir Vallanor announced High King Peter's decree of the Annual Great Scavenger Hunt!
Players then formed teams and started scouring the lands for the many listed scavenger hunt items, which included having to defeat fearsome goblins, wolves, and answer riddles from one particularly crafty fox.
All in all the kids and adults had a fun time and the winning team won some cool little replica swords to take home!
